More commonly known as Cubic Zirconia or CZ, Zirconia, a blemish free colourless and incredibly hard gemstone, is similar to Moissanite in that it has a very similar visual appearance to diamond and is often used as a diamond substitute. That is not to say that it isnt a very special gemstone, however. Each gemstone resonates at its own individual frequency; one which emanates certain energies and can bring about certain mental and physiological effects in the person who uses it or wears it. Zirconia in particular is well known for its ability to protect the emotions, promote spiritual well being, promote relaxation and rid the mind of negativity, depression and anxiety. This is a stone which is particularly helpful to those who have trouble sleeping as it calms the mind and encourages positive dreaming. These stone properties, however, have little which relate to marriage or engagement and for most people who choose Cubic Zirconia engagement rings it is most likely to be for its staggering beauty. Since the 1980s this stone has been produced in laboratories and as a result it is considerably cheaper to buy than its doppelganger, the diamond. Because of this, Cubic Zirconia is a worrying area for the prospective groom. The average budget wont stretch to a two carat diamond, let alone one carat, yet shes the woman of his dreams and he wants more than anything to buy her that rock. Does he settle for a CZ ring and try to pass it off as a diamond? If you think about it, its a terrible idea. For one theyre supposed to be getting wed, where lies have no place. Secondly, if she goes to get an appraisal for ring insurance or has a friend who is a professional gemologist then the game is up and he will be rumbled. What is important to remember is that Cubic Zirconia is astoundingly attractive in its own right, its actually 3/4 heavier than a diamond and because its created in laboratories it can be made to fit, to look perfect and to have no flaws. In fact, a cubic Zirconia engagement ring is likely to be even more ideal for that ideal lady than a hideously expensive, blemished diamond. For the man on a smaller budget but with bigger sights the only dilemma he has to work through is the question of which to choose; Moissanite or cubic Zirconia?
