A colourless, pure diamond is the classic and timeless choice for prospective brides across the globe, but this type of stone isn't always a woman's first choice. For the lady who wants something a little different from the 'norm', yet something just as beautiful and impressive, the coloured diamond, and in particular a natural pink diamond engagement ring is usually the best choice. Naturally formed pink diamonds get their colour from either irradiation or (more commonly) plastic deformation and they are not easy to come across. Only 50 to 60 carats (in total) of natural pink diamonds are found each year and with that shared out between all the countries who buy them, you can imagine how difficult they are to find. Of course they can be bought both online and in jewellery stores on the high street, but they are highly priced (usually significantly higher than their colourless counterparts) and some hunting around will probably be necessary. Gemmologists have figured out how to manufacture a pink tint into colourless diamonds and these tend to be cheaper than the real thing. Alternatively, people do settle for pink sapphires and pale rubies which are both very similar in colour to the pink diamond, are usually cheaper and can be found much more readily. Rubies and sapphires are, however, less clear cut and give off less of a shine than diamonds. To the trained eye this could ruin the intrigue of the ring completely. Pink Diamonds have a remarkably warm appearance. When you consider how crystal clear diamonds are and attribute the color pink to them you might come up with an almost purple image, yet pink diamonds are very different. Some pink diamonds gravitate towards being dark reddish brown and tend to look very authentic. It is the pale pink and bluish tinted pink diamonds which are likely to have been manufactured. So for the man with a high engagement ring budget, a woman who likes to stand out from the crowd and sights set high then a pink diamond engagement ring is definitely the best choice. In fact, buying a pink diamond engagement ring might be the best choice to make as many pink diamonds are also used for other items of jewellery (earrings, pendants and bracelets) and these pieces can provide the perfect presents for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions yet to come. It is best to start looking around early on though, as these gemstones are hard to come across in standard high street jewellers. We are constantly adding new information - Bookmark this page. |
