* To Wear or Not to Wear – Refrain from wearing your diamonds while playing sports and other physically rough work.
* Chemical exposure – Avoid letting your diamonds become exposed to bleach, chlorine or other strong chemicals because these can cause discoloration or pit on the mounting.

If you really want to store your jewelry pieces together, make sure to use dividers or compartments.
* Diamond Cleaning – Regardless of how pure your diamonds are, they can still pick up oils, grease and dirt from constant use, resulting in a dull and lifeless appearance. When cleaning your diamonds, you can use a mix of detergent and water or household ammonia and water. You can also use an ultrasonic machine or jewelry cleaners. Always use soft lint-less cloth when handling your diamonds. If you are not using homemade cleaners, make sure to read the instructions before using a machine or placing chemicals on the diamond pieces.
* The Pro Jeweler – If you tried every method in cleaning your diamonds, but they don’t seem to shine as they did before, it’s time to take your diamonds to a professional jeweler to have them cleaned and checked for imperfections. Generally, it is ideal to take your diamonds to a trusted jeweler every six months. If the diamond has been altered or treated in any way, your jeweler can perform coloring, tinting, coating, heating or irradiating to improve the appearance of your diamonds. Ask your jeweler which special care procedures are needed in making your diamonds shine like brand new.
